For those who wonder what VAIN Nights is all about, what makes it so special and why you might want to join a next edition: stay with me.
THE VENUE
Firstly, each VAIN Night is held at a unique location. For now, we remain in Antwerp since we are an Antwerp-based label. Until now, the events have been in the old city center, but the next edition may be slightly outside of it. I can't reveal the details yet, but the venue I'm considering would be VERY exciting. Let's wait and see...
THE WELCOME
The welcome is a crucial moment. Some women arrive solo, while others bring a friend. Regardless, we aim to make you feel comfortable and at ease. After all, this is an evening you've reserved to treat yourself! Admittedly, during the 2nd edition, we might have made our guests slightly uncomfortable by photographing each one against our VAIN backdrop. However, the following day, we received only positive feedback when they received their personal photo in their mailbox!
THE KEYNOTE
A crucial aspect of VAIN Nights is the keynote speech, which is not just any speech but a personal story. I have been very fortunate to have met strong, inspiring women who were willing to share their stories. By chance, so far, we have had women who regularly speak to hundreds or thousands of people, yet for the first time, they shared their personal journeys, struggles, and opportunities.
This immediately fosters a sense of connection, understanding, and strengthens the bonds among the women present.
Of course, I hope you appreciate the VAIN brand and I would love you to own a piece from our collections. But beyond that, with VAIN Nights, my true ambition is to inspire women, connect them, and demonstrate that positive energy among women can uplift us all.
THE SHOPPING
Following the inspiring words of an equally remarkable woman, I share a few thoughts about VAIN, our motivations, and the meticulous attention to detail we apply when designing a new gem for our VAIN Collections. Then comes the moment when the "Oohhh"'s and the "Whaaaw"'s are heard as I unveil the new pieces.
The immediate "aahh"'s were fantastic when, at the 2nd VAIN Nights, I introduced the champagne-colored kitten heels. It was wonderful to receive such positive feedback after so much deliberation and consideration over which colors could become timeless wardrobe staples.
My collections are named after influential women who have made a significant impact on history. Barbe-Nicole is the maiden name of "la Veuve Clicquot," an exceptional woman from the 18th century. It was only fitting to name my champagne-colored kitten heels in her honor!
The shopping experience is a joyful occasion where women share shoe and belt sizes, examine clutches and jewelry together, and offer compliments to one another. It's a delightful chaos, witnessed by women enjoying wine and conversing with friends or new acquaintances met during the evening.
THE GIFT
It's always immensely satisfying to send these #vainladies home with a thoughtfully chosen gift that I know will be valuable to them. During the first VAIN Nights, Carolien Van den Bosch generously gave all the attendees her debut book "De ideale dag". For the second VAIN Night, the gift came from Cabinet Belge, a partner I work with who aligns with my fashion values and with whom I've been collaborating for some time now. She provided all the attending ladies with the most stylish, practical, all-purpose shopper, typically reserved for clients who visit her beautiful, welcoming private shop in Weelde. Witnessing the delighted reactions from ladies using their new accessory is incredibly rewarding...
I've also had the pleasure of including a luxurious and amazing skincare product from SkinCeuticals in both gift bags so far. I wouldn't offer it to our #vainladies if I hadn't been a longtime user of these products myself. They genuinely work and leave your skin feeling incredible.
Sending 30 ladies home with smiles, uplifting and inspiring thoughts, and a VAIN piece they will cherish for years; that's the purpose of these evenings.
